5 Reasons Why You Can’t Stick To Your Diet

‘I can’t follow a diet!’

If I had a dollar for every time I heard someone say this, I’d be a very well off individual. The increasing epidemic of excessive weight and even obesity in today’s society does not seem to be slowing. I have nothing against overweight individuals as you are free to make your own choices.; however, this article is geared towards the overweight individual that wants to lose weight but can’t seem to follow a diet to save their life. I myself was once overweight and out of shape. During my conquest to lose weight I’ve learned many different things about training and nutrition that would vastly improve my physique, not only leading me to accomplish my goal of losing weight but also to winning physique competitions and becoming a national level competitor in the National Physique Committee. With all that being said, here are 5 tips that I have acquired over the years that’s led me to be able to continue to diet and make improvements to my physique on a daily basis.Merton Woolard_Mens Physique

Stop saying “I Can’t”– The word ‘can’t’ should be illegal. Anytime you say you can’t do something you have already failed. Using a positive outlook can greatly increase your chances of accomplishing your goal. If you believe you can do something, and have a true understanding if what it might take, you can absolutely get it done. The only person holding you back is yourself.

“The food doesn’t taste good”– Nobody said you have to eat plain food. There is a variety of sauces and seasonings that are approved for diet goers. Things like Walden Farms zero calorie sauces, Heinz reduced sugar ketchup, Mrs. Dash seasonings, French’s mustard, popcorn seasonings, and soy sauce are all approved for dieting. These condiments are low or no calorie and make your food taste extremely good.

“I don’t have time to meal prep”– Yes you do, nobody is that busy; you really want this, you will make the time. If I did an audit of the time you spent daily I would bet I could find at least 2-3 hours per day where you are watching television, playing games, scrolling on the internet, or engulfed in social media. Excuses are excuses. Take time every Sunday and prep your food. This does not take as much time as one may think. At a maximum, it should only take you 2 hours to prepare all your food for the upcoming week. Remember, having your meals already prepared will leave you less likely to cheat on your diet because the food will be available at your disposal.

“I have a bad sweet tooth”– This is easily fixable. I myself have a huge sweet tooth. I love cookies, candy bars, cakes, and pies. I know none the less that these aforementioned foods will not help me reach my goals. Today I’ll give you a recipe that I use all the time. This has 4 ingredients. Walden Farms calorie free chocolate syrup, Walden Farms calorie free marshmallow puff, Redi Whip fat-free whipped cream, and milk chocolate popcorn seasoning. Get yourself a small plastic container and a layer of marshmallow puff on the bottom and a layer of chocolate syrup on the top. Set this in the freezer for 10-15 minutes so that the sauces get a pudding like consistency to them. Once removed from the freezer add a layer of Redi Whip fat-free whipped cream and top it off with a few shakes of milk chocolate popcorn seasoning and your sweet tooth will be cured at the expense of 20 calories, 0 carbohydrates, 0 sugars, and 0 fat.

“Dieting ruins my social life”– Just because you are on a meal plan does not mean you can’t have a social life. Most social activities take place around drinking and food, that’s just the nature of the beast. But just because you can’t drink or partake in eating take-out food does not mean you can’t have a good time. Life can still be enjoyable without participating in these activities. Being on a meal plan and having goals of self-improvement should be something that your friends commend and encourage. At no time should your friends attempt to sway you from your goals or make it hard for you to enjoy yourself, just because you’re not indulging in food and drinks. Everyone can have a good time, diet or no diet involved.
